It was reported in the nation's press this week that a small country hospital in Queensland at BARALABA would have to close for a short period due to an infestation orf redback spiders.  The redback a close relative of the North American black widow is highly venemous and should be avoided at all costs.Persons using outdoor toilets should be particularly careful to check the seat prior to sitting down April 25th 2008Smileycons! Maitland has had its wettest April spell for 15 years with 13 wet days in succession.  Flooding is expected in the lower reaches of the Williams and Paterson rivers  Lorn,a Maitland suburb had 5 inches yesterday

WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT BANKS    On a day when the Australian Nation stopped to commemorate our fallen servicemen ANZAC DAY - April 25th.  One of our "big four" banks raised the Home Loan Rate  by .1 of 1% !!!!

Sunday 27/04/08   ANZAC BRIDGE SYDNEY

A  statue to honour NZ servicemen was today erected on the ANZAC bridge Sydney.  This was to accompany his Aussie digger mate who had been languishing there alone  for the past 6 years.  With due pomp and ceremony the statue (slightly taller than the Aussie version) - sculpted by a Kiwi of course was declared "open" .  Trouble was NSW security a.k.a. bumbledom  refused to allow many NZ people who had flown cross the "ditch" to witness the opening.  It is understood Premier Iemma beat a hasty retreat after the ceremony
