I love Thanksgiving because I love food and I love family, But the day after thanksgiving is also a favorite of mine. Yes leftover turkey sandwiches with dressing and cranberry sauce. I wake up thinking about them. Just finished mine for lunch, belly full and I am already looking forward to supper. Yes you are right leftover turkey sandwich. I will repeat this cycle until the turkey is gone, then I have to wait until Christmas when we have Christmas dinner. Yip we are having turkey and the day after Christmas we are having leftover turkey sandwiches!! God bless them.
This is my first real Black Friday. I always wondered what would motivate someone to get up at 3:00 in the morning and venture out with hundreds of people to get a bargain. Well today I tried it. I went to Menards a local big box hardware store (like a Home Depot) . Left the house at 5:20 AM. I told my wife and myself I was going to buy a couple of packages of 30 batteries for $1.99. She knew more than I that I had seen some tool in the newspaper add they were selling that I didn’t need but had to have and told myself I would not get. Well I got there 20 minutes before the store opened and could not believe my eyes. There wasn’t a parking place to be found. Not only the massive parking lot for this store but every store parking lot in the area was full. The line of people was in the hundreds, possibly a thousand. I will say though every one was laughing and extremely well behaved . I was very proud of my fellow tool lovers. (I had seen news stories of some pretty aggressive and scary incidents on this day in the past. So needless to say I was quite relieved at the civility of my hardware loving compatriots.)
While waiting to check out in line for 45 minutes I did happen to do a little people watching and I noticed more than a few were just beaming. I mean they were so happy. Families together laughing, talking, waiting and planning there next stop hours before the sun came up.
I will admit it was quite fun. I was home and back in bed and my wife didn’t even believe I had gone until she saw the batteries and oh yes that certain tool I didn’t need that I now have.
