Good day & hope the week is doing fine even if you have snow & cold. Really got cold here but going to warm up a little. The wind was cold & blowing hard when I was at the school crossing yesterday but I was bundled up good which helped. Planning on putting up Christmas decorations this weekend as the wife is going in Tuesday for right knee replacement & will be laid up for a time. Today my husband John and I found a lot of butterflies flying around our enclosures this morning. John counted 14 Monarch Butterflies before we brought our coffee out to enjoy on our patio. Within one hour, we had another Monarch Butterfly eclose! We released 15 Monarch Butterflies today which makes the total Monarch Butterfly released to date at 168!
Today, my husband John and I were fortunate enough to be able to watch several of our Monarch Butterflies eclose. We will release them later this afternoon. We have several errands to run but are expecting many more monarch eclosures today when we return.
Happy hump day to you. A beautiful day here & waiting for the cool front to come in but not like some of you have. Had a trash truck at the school crossing turn the corner & the dump door was not secured & dumped a bunch of trash & garbage. He stopped ,called for a cleanup crew but what a mess with the people coming to school & traffic. Love smelling garbage & diesel smoke in the mornings. Closing out another month that went by fast. Getting a cold front coming in that will get us close to freezing temps so going to protect plants in case of frost. Afraid the trick or treaters are going to have rain & cold temps for Halloween. We bought a lot of candy but most of it is the kind we like so time will tell. Have a bootiful day.............George

Thankfully it had stopped before I got to the school crossing but wore my rain suit to be safe . Looks looks other parts of the country are getting hit too . Hope your ready for another great weekend. What a change in our temp. Went from record setting 98 Thurs to high of 51 yesterday after a front came in . What a shock! Supposed to be a neighborhood garage sale today but don't think there will be too many participants. You take care & God bless...........George

Good morning & happy new month to you. I'm slowly running out of patience being patient for cooler weather. We've had 56 days of 100 degree temps being the hottest Sept. on record here but getting down to the low & mid 90's this week. Oh well when it does get cold will be wanting warm weather again. This morning my husband, John. was very happy to see his favorite butterfly had eclosed. Although they're all beautiful, John is very partial to the Black Swallowtail butterflies. While John was taking pictures and videos, a Giant Swallowtail butterfly visited our gardens for a nectar refreshment! It is a beautiful, sunny day, the temperature is below 90 F with reduced humidity!

Today my husband,John, and I released our 7th Giant Swallowtail butterfly. It is a huge female Giant Swallowtail butterfly that I raised from an egg. She has been happily flying around the garden while another Giant Swallowtail butterfly has been laying eggs on our orange tree and enjoying the nectar from our flower gardens. This morning, while I was collecting fresh leaves for our Giant Swallowtail caterpillars, I found a tiny caterpillar on our orange tree. The egg must have been laid about a week ago and somehow John and I missed it when we were hunting for eggs on the trees.
Another great day & weekend to you . Same stuff here, hot & dry no change. Getting worried since I saw buzzards carrying canteens. Getting the carpet & furniture cleaned today as it's been awhile. Take care & enjoy the day............George

Yesterday we had 19 Monarch butterflies that eclosed. My husband, John, videoed each release! We had one remaining Monarch butterfly and it eclosed this morning! We decided to add its release to yesterday's releases. I know this video is a bit long but it is interesting to see how each butterfly reacted to its release! Female Monarch butterfly #10 didn't want any flowers and didn't want to fly away. She was very interested in hanging onto John. We hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed releasing so many beautiful butterflies!
