Flu shot and groceries!
Posted On: 09/27/2020 12:00:44

While it's convenient to have our 'pharmacy' inside our grocery, the problem is that we always end up getting grocery items when going in to pick up something from the pharmacy!  Now, due to our insurance, we have just one 'pharmacy'--so yes, we always are tempted to pick up something while we are in the store.

My husband dropped off a prescription for me  yesterday--and I said, "While you're there..."--so he came home with one item. That's not so bad. Then, since they said it would be ready this morning, he figured I might as well  get my flu shot at the same time; he had gotten his a few days ago.

So this morning, I got dressed and we went over there; it only took a few minutes (waiting time) for me to get my shot--that actually took a few seconds. So of course, my husband said , 'to save a trip, let's look around'.  We came home with $24 worth of stuff. Still not too bad...it could have been worse!   Now, if we don't have to go over there for a while, I figure that's ok. We had already done our major monthly stock up, so I think we're okay for a few weeks. As long as we don't have to refill any more prescriptions, that is.

I have found that you can go broke saving yourself a trip.  You can also go broke saving money.  You know, if you buy $5.00 worth shipping is free or you get a discount or you get something else for half price.  You have discovered why they put the pharmacy inside the grocery store.  You have to go in with blinders on like they use on horses to keep them on track.  The trick is to pick up your perscriptions at the same time as you need groceries.  It is all in the timing.  Enjoyed the blog.  We have all been there.

I am sure the union of pharmacy houses placed inside grocery stores was a unique marketing ploy designed in effort many years ago. As such, you'll always see a Walgreens on same corner from CVS. I wish a natural supplement store could do the same.

Doesn't that always happen? "While we're here". I do the same thing but not for quite awhile now. My Pharmacy that I go to has a drive up window. I've been using that option since this mess came around. The grocery store I go to has a pharmacy but when I go there now, they aren't open. I go early when the doors open and is real nice because basically I'm the only one shopping at that hour.
Which reminds me I haven't got my flu shot yet. Since I retired I get it at my primary now instead of at work. I won't see them until November.
