So, it's a good thing that I was up and about around 9 a.m. I have been just taking my time in the morning because of the heat and humidity. But there was a slim chance that the guy was coming to start doing my new porch railings. The way things go around here I have become somewhat of a skeptic and only half believe what I'm told by the trade folks. Anyway, the guy (Chris) came around 9:30...which seemed like an odd time to start a job. Nonetheless...please start no matter what time it was. He is a very nice young man whose last name is Jones (How nice could that be? Being it's my last name too) He set up his stuff and we managed a little conversation before he started and I found out he had lived on the street (court) next to mine a few years back ...but I never knew him. He got the first section going and set up the 4 posts that were part of the system. Around 4 he picked up the old railings that he had detached and put away his tools for the day. Said he should be back today...Friday. It looked so good and I know it will add to the house a lot of charm. However, I got a call from his boss saying that Chris wouldn't be back until Monday as 2 sections that were needed to be used next were not in yet. OK, I was fine with that. Sooo, this morning I was having my coffee on the porch and was admiring the one section that was up when I saw a dark round spot about 1/4 inch. Thinking it was dirt I tried wiping it off only to find out it was a hole. . And the hole goes all the way through but not out the back. I just don't get it. He must have seen it. Now I have to stew all week-end. . I sure hope he finds some way to disguise it. Just once I would like things to run smoothly. Once again I'm getting out the violin...I seem to be playing that sad song a lot lately... I think I'll go have lunch and do something constructive.....like watch a movie....LOL. Later, Luv, Alice
And so it goes and, so it will always be! It's the manufacturers fault, it's not a defect, that's how it's supposed to look. I'll be back in a week...the supplies are on back order. Oops, they forgot to include the... Hang in there :-)
You're right about that. But he just came and I showed him the hole and he rubbed his chin for a second and said he was sorry he missed the defect and would have to remove the whole railing top to get at it but not to worry....he said "what the heck I get paid by the hour.".... problem resolved.
