M.I.A. Missing NOTH member Wolf
Posted On 08/17/2008 17:04:59

M.I.A - All Points Bulletin for NOTH member Wolf

Wolf is missing. His last log in was July 11, 2008. His webpage states he has 64 friends. Out of those 64, I am hoping that at least one of them will read this announcement and let us know where Wolf is and if he is alright. We are very concerned about our missing friend. Please, if you know anything that will set our minds at ease, Please contact ladyup1time with any information on our missing NOTH member as I am currently on vacation and only have access to a computer on a VERY limited basis.
Thank you. Lemon

How much is too much for fees?

BULLETIN and BLOG - Monday 08.11.08

Good morning everyone!!! It's almost time for me to fly to CA. Just wanted to wish everyone a VERY happy day. I'm excited about my trip, however, I am NOT overjoyed about my method of travel.....Flying. I HATE TO FLY. Once I'm up in the air, I'm alright, and even the take-offs and landings are okay, it's just the fact that I have to get on the plane!! Yes, I'm the first one to admit that I'm more than a little strange but then I've never said I was anything other than different, now have I.

I wanted to bring to everyone's attention this blurp posted on the Home tab by TC & EB:

Thanks everyone who has shown their support by joining as a VIP member! We appreciate it very much! We have had such a great response, that we removed all ads except for Google for the rest of the month, so those that are not VIP are no longer seeing ads with floaters or flash!

Now wouldn't it be wonderful if NOTH could stay Ad free? If everyone purchased a V.I.P. membership, it would probably be as close to Ad free as it could be.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking......
(1) Why should "I" buy a Lifetime Membership?
(2) It cost too much.
(3) What's in it for me?
(4) It can't possibly cost that much to run this website.

Well, let me help you out with the answers.

(1) Because we need to give back to those who have dedicated their lives, yes I said lives, to helping us become one HUGE happy family here on NOTH.......TC & EB. This is what they have chosen to do. Unselfishly help others. It started with Cloudeight many years ago and it just keeps getting better. How many people in your lives do you know that would do everything they do, at their own expense, to help thousands of total strangers? I'll bet you could count them on one hand. These two started out with a dream and made it a reality. They spend their own money to buy computers and test programs so that we don't have to and then share their knowledge and help keep us safe on the Internet, which we all know can be EXTREMELY dangerous and devastating with just one click of a button. I know because that has happened to me BEFORE I found Cloudeight.

(2) Really?? You think a ONE TIME payment of $44.00 is too much? On a fixed income you say?? How much will it cost to either fix or buy a computer if you accidentally click on a button and download something you shouldn't? They ain't called "accidents" because they're planned events people. I've done it. It happens. We all get a little curious (or careless) now and again. That's human nature. And the bad guys are getting a whole lot more ingenious with their deceptions. Now, granted, there ain't nothing wrong with waiting until the "Annual" paid subscription is available. That will help eliminate the ads too but I think of it this way, ....... how many times have you purchased something on a timely basis (which 'usually' costs more in the long run) and wished you'd just bought it outright? Hmmmm........

(3) Peace of Mind, knowing those sometimes dangerous ads aren't even there any longer to tempt us.

Helping TC & EB who give "ALL" of themselves to helping total strangers. It gives me a good feeling when I help someone.

Making friends with people All Over The World that you would never have a chance to make friends with any other way.

Learning new things, whether it be computer related or just life in general.

Remember back to the time before you joined NOTH (or Cloudeight for that matter). Before you knew which programs to try, which programs were dangerous, how to 'tweak' your computer, how to keep it running in tip top shape. Don't know about all of you but I crashed a brand new computer about 6 times the first month I had it because of having Incredimail and SmileyCentral on it. The techs that kept repairing it didn't tell me not to use those programs. They wanted to get paid. See what I mean? TC & EB do their utmost best and give us the knowledge to keep us safe and they ask for nothing in return except our friendship. The different membership fees, the items for sale in Cloudie's store and NOTH store, the programs and screensavers they offer are a VERY TINY portion of what it costs for them to do this. How do you REALLY pay someone back for all the time it takes to do these things? My answer is this: in whatever way we possibly can. Because, I'm here to tell ya, if we don't help them, they won't be able to afford to continue to help us. The way the economy is going (thanks to our government not being able to balance their own checkbooks), prices on everything is going to go up and that includes the cost of running this website.

(4) I asked EB about the expense of running this website and this is what she had to say: "As far as expense, just ask anyone concerned to look up server costs for a quad 4 dedicated server with 8 gig of ram, two terabytes of hard drive space and 4 terabytes of bandwidth. That only covers server space." So help yourselves and "Google" away.

So, I ask you...... how much do YOU think is too much to pay for friendship and safety? Personally, I can't put a price on either one. They are both priceless. Just like TC & EB.

Remember this, ........... where would YOU be today, if not for their love?

NO JOKE - UPS VIRUS ALERT
Posted On 08/09/2008 06:05:18

Passing this along for everyone. Received this Email from a friend that belongs to the same computer group I do.  I did check it out at Snopes and it is true. - Lemon

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/ups.asp

UPS Virus Warning ..... Take this one seriously.
We got this today. Fortunately, Olypen.com caught it and quarantined it. While it is in quarantine I could open it and see what it was without it affecting our computer. I called UPS about it and they confirmed that it is an actual virus. If you receive an e-mail from UPS stating that you have a shipment ...and you need to click on the file attached ....DON'T !! This will wipe out your hard drive. We received one here that had a zip file attached. We thankfully did not open it. Just delete it. Our tech person has had 4 different clients loose one computer each from the file being opened up. Please let everyone know

MIA - All Point Bulletin - Looking for member Peanut
Posted On 07/28/2008 19:56:32

Calling all members!!! This is NOT a joke. Our NOTH family member, Peanut, has been Missing In Action (MIA) since July 22, 2008. I know that someone out there must know her on a more personal note and can contact her to let her know WE ARE LOOKING FOR HER.

It is not like Peanut to be off The Hill for 6 days!! If she has gone on vacation, then I will apologize to her for stirring everyone up into a frenzy trying to find her. If she has not gone on vacation, then PLEASE CONTACT US AND LET US KNOW SHE'S OK.

I will post this message in my News & Announcements on my page and I will also post it in the Blogs. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I KNOW it's NOT a "Blog" according to TC & EB's "standards" but I WANT TO FIND MY FRIEND SO STANDARDS BE D**MED.

There has just got to be a better way to keep track of our NOTH family members than screaming at the top of our lungs when they come up missing.

I sincerely hope that one of the "categories" that TC & EB want to conjure up for "Blogs" will be titled "Missing in Action" or something along those lines. When a member comes up missing, a Blog could be posted and then maybe someone would know how to contact the missing person and find out what's wrong.

Question for TC & EB about Blog Updates
Posted On 07/27/2008 22:37:41

The following was posted on everyone's "My Account" page, but just in case you missed it:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING BLOGS: We will be updating the blog area of the site so that there are specific categories. Blogs are things you, yourself have written or a journal about you that you update, thoughts on different subjects, and personal essays or essays you have a comment on and have permission to post. Blogs are not jokes, pasted info from the web, recipes, pictures and animations. If you have posted jokes, recipes, pictures, etc., please add them to one of the groups set aside for this purpose. Blogs that do not fit in any of the blog categories may be lost when we do the update, so please go through your postings.

Now, TC & EB, thank you for letting us know of the changes you will be making, however, how are we to know which 'categories' our already written blogs fit in when you haven't given us a list of what the 'categories' are going to be?? I, myself, have written quite a few blogs (Some of them Step-by-Step Tutorials) covering lots of different topics and depending on how you interpret them, would depend on what 'category' one might put them in.

As for posting our blogs in "one of the groups", well, then that limits who is actually going to see and read your blog. I mean, seriously, have you looked at some of those categories in groups?? The category for "Activities" alone has 28 groups!!! If someone doesn't belong to THAT specific group, they won't see it. Are we suppose to post our blog in all 28 groups for THAT one category? We would be posting our blogs forever.

I, personally, have trouble keeping up with the groups I've already joined along with all the comments, messages, etc. received from other NOTH members. I just think you're making this Blog thing a little too complicated. Maybe I'm wrong but that's just my opinion. Who is doing the choosing when you the updates take effect? It would be a shame for all of us who have posted Blogs since we joined to lose them and any comments made to them.

I sincerely hope you will give us all a few more days to either move our already written Blogs and/or copy/paste them to our hard drives. Please post the exact date(s) you will be doing the updates so we can move our Blogs. Thank you. Lemon

CRABBY OLD MAN

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in North
Platte, Nebraska , it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.
Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff, that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Missouri .. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St. Louis Association for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this "anonymous" poem winging across the Internet.

Crabby Old Man

What do you see, nurses?. . . . . What do you see?
What are you thinking . . . . . .....When you're looking at me?
A crabby old man, . . ................ Not very wise,
Uncertain of habit . . . . . . . .......With faraway eyes?

Who dribbles his food . . . . . .. And makes no reply .
When you say in a loud voice . . . . 'I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice . . . .The things that you do .
And forever is losing . . . . . . . . . . A sock or a shoe?

Who, resisting or not . . . . . . . . . . Lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding .  .  .  ...The long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking? . . . .  Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse . . . .. You're not looking at me .

I'll tell you who I am ...................... As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, . . . . . .... As I eat at your will ..
I'm a small child of Ten . . . . . ... . With a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters . . . . . . . . ... Who love one another

A young boy of Sixteen . ..............With wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now . . . . . . . A lover he'll meet .
A groom soon at Twenty . . ......... My heart gives a leap .
Remembering the vows . . . . . ... That I promised to keep

At Twenty-Five, now . . . . . . . . ...... I have young of my own .
Who need me to guide . . ........... And a secure happy home .
A man of Thirty . . . . . . ................. My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other . . . . . .......... With ties that should last .

At Forty, my young sons . ............ Have grown and are gone,
But my woman's beside me . . .  . To see I don't mourn .
At Fifty, once more, . . .................. Babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children . . . . . . .. My loved one and me

Dark days are upon me . . . ........ My wife is now dead .
I look at the future . . . . . . . . . . ..... . I shudder with dread .
For my young are all rearing . . . .. Young of their own .
And I think of the years . . . . ...... And the love that I've known .

I'm now an old man . . . . . . . . ...... And nature is cruel .
'Tis jest to make old age . . . . ...... Look like a fool
The body, it crumbles . . . . . . ... . . Grace and vigor, depart .
There is now a stone . . . . . ....... . Where I once had a heart .

But inside this old carcass  . . ... . A young guy still dwells,
And now and again . . . . . .......... . My battered heart swells
I remember the joys . . . . . . . . . ... . I remember the pain
And I'm loving and living . . . . . . .. . Life over again

I think of the years . All too few . . .  Gone too fast
And accept the stark fact . . . . .. . . . That nothing can last .
So open your eyes, people . . . . . .. Open and see..
Not a crabby old man.  Look closer . See . . . ME!!

Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within.

We will all, one day, be there, too!

Take Control of your health
Posted On 07/25/2008 22:16:50

Hello. My name is Cheryl (Lemon to my friends). I have Fibromyalgia. I follow an eating program (and have for the last 6 yrs) and feel wonderful. When I follow this eating program I am pain Free. When I choose to eat something I shouldn't, the pain returns. You may want to do some research of your own and check out this website: www.drmcdougall.com
This particular eating program can stop the progression of MS. It also helps anyone who has had a heart attack, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, depression and anxiety, type 2 diabetes, migraine headaches, arthritis, just to name a few. But don't believe me, check it out for yourself.

Once logged onto the website, there are several tabs across the top of the page. To navigate to the information for the different ailments, do the following: Left click on the "Medical Info" tab at the top of the page.

Next, in the box titled "Medical Information", Left click on Common Health Problems

Next, in the box titled "Common Ailments", Left click on the down arrow that says 'Select an Ailment'

A box will pop up with different ailments, scroll down and choose the one you want to read about. Left click on the title of the one you've chosen.

To read about a different ailment, Left click on the down arrow that says 'Select an Ailment' and choose another topic.

If you'd like to read my story, Left click on the "Star McDougaller" tab at the top of the page.

Next, in the box titled "Jump to Story", Left click on the down arrow that says 'Pick One'

A box will pop up that has different names in it, scroll down and choose "Miracles Do Happen!!! Cheryl M. Lambert" Left click on the title of the one you've chosen.

To read another story, Left click on the down arrow that says 'Pick One' and choose another name.

If after researching this website, you decide you might like to try out this particular eating program, they have a Free 12-Day Program. To access it, do the following: Left click on the "Clinic" tab at the top of the page.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and look on the left hand side for "Also see The Free McDougall program>>" and Left click on that link

On the next page, look on the right hand side for a box titled "Quick Links". Take your time and read each one of these. They are very informative.

Once you've read each of these links, scroll down to the bottom and at number 5, where it says 'Mealplan', you will Left click on the down arrow next to 'Choose A Day'.

When you do, a box will pop up with 12 days listed. Choose a day and Left click for the meal plan for that entire day.

I hope you find this information helpful. I know I did. I still follow this eating program. I've only been to the doctor one time in the last 6 years and that was this year for a sinus infection. I'll be 54 years old come November, 2008. I'd say that's doing pretty good. The only daily supplements I take are 2 All Natural Chewable Vitamin C tablets and one sublingual (under the tongue) cherry flavored B-12 tablet. I am not on ANY medications of any kind. I walk one hour a day (take my Foxy girl for a walk). Work 6 hrs a day as a PT Legal Assistant for a local attorney. 6 years ago I thought I was going to have to go on disability because of the Fibromyalgia. I am still a functioning part of society and I attribute it all to following the McDougall program.

This information is not meant to offend anyone; it's just posted for those of us who want to take control of our health and not leave it in the hands of the medical professionals. Yes, it is true that there are still many good doctors out there, but that doesn't mean we can't educate ourselves so that we know which questions to ask and then know where to go for further research on a particular subject. YOU are the only one in control of YOUR health. We seem to forget sometimes that doctors work for US; not us for Them. Keep that in mind when you're talking to them. They are OUR employees; not the other way around. Here's to your health. May you live a long and happy life, free of medications and crippling disease. Take back your life. After all, you only get once chance at it. Lemon

Maxine's view on Life

As You Slide Down the Banister of Life, remember:

1. Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggert have written
an impressive new book.  It's called .........
'Ministers Do More Than Lay People.'

2. Transvestite: A guy who likes to eat, drink
    and be Mary.

3. The difference between the Pope and
your boss,  the Pope only expects you
    to kiss his ring.

4. My mind works like lightning, One brilliant
    flash and it is gone.

5. The only time the world beats a path to
your door is if you're in  the bathroom.

6. I hate sex in the movies. Tried it once.
The seat folded up, the drink spilled and
that ice, well, it really chilled the mood.

7. It used to be only death and taxes
were inevitable Now, of course, there's
    shipping and handling, too.

8.. A husband is someone who, after taking
the trash out, gives the impression that
he just cleaned the whole house.

9. My next house will have no kitchen - just
vending machines and a  large trash can.

10. A blonde said, 'I was worried that my
mechanic might try to rip me off.
I was relieved when he told me all
I needed was turn signal fluid.'

11. Definition of a teenager?
      God's punishment...for enjoying sex.

12. As you slide down the banister of life, may
the splinters never point the wrong way.
Live Simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly.......

but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light within."
