Shingle That Roof Please
Posted On: 05/28/2013 15:51:03

I got up early this morning (6 a.m. ) to prepare for the roofers to start arriving. That's right no one showed until after 10. One man brought the shingles and then later on the man came with the dumpster. However, no guys came to start the roof.  Still one piece of equipment coming I would presume tomorrow. We may have showers tomorrow....then boiling hot for the next few days...wonder what my chances are of getting this roof done? When the guy with the dumpster came there was a large truck with a trailer that carries lawn cutting equipment and i mean it is a long trailer. The neighbors across from me get there lawn cut every week by this outfit. Consider that I live on the last house on a dead end street with close quarters when it comes to turning around. Envision both trucks there at the same time. The dumpster is being brought in by a large flatbed. It was a 3 or 4 ring circus. i have to say that the dumpster guy was a heck of a driver. He had to make many turns to get it in my driveway then turn the cab around to get out into the court. The lawn guy backed up as far as he could get without plowing into a neighbor's son's truck that is parked out back. I did a lot of head shaking and hoped for the best. Joe, my neighbor, said he hoped they both wouldn't arrive at the same time , but, it happened anyway. I said to him "well, those guys will have something to talk abut at the supper table tonite". Thing is what will happen when the dumpster has to be picked up?? We may be o.k. as long as it isn't on Tuesday...that's when Joe gets his lawn cut again...there may be a part 2 to this tale.

Ah! the providence of a solid sound roof,

not to be messed with by a stupid goof,

trying to mend and repair it on the hoof,

hoping that the results will be storm proof,

the final bill, from which, we will remain aloof.

Thank you Walt, I love it. I am patiently waiting for some kind of roof action. (Not) photo pulling-hair.gif   Alice

Raining today. No roofers. So, just took a lazy day...again....actually the way things happen for me I have to laugh or go nuts.    Alice

This is why Papa Allen is doing our roof; these guys don't have pride in the work they do any more and their cleanup is something else, too. It may take my husband longer to do the job but, at least, it will be done right.

We have friends in our community that didn't have a good experience with the roofers. Hope yours turns out better.
