Now that that tune is stuck in your head... we were 70's yesterday and we are 39 and dropping today with light rain and possible snow and 30+ mph winds. Can you say Burrrr?
From shorts to snowsuits again. At least I was smart enough to move and cover plants yesterday. That wind is miserable out there today.
So dogs are all in, actually in Hubby's lap curled up and ready for a nap. I am trying to decide what sounds good to eat during our cold snap.
It is a perfect day for cooking and cleaning as both of them warm you up. I hope you have a blessed weekend and share your smile with others.
I have such mixed emotions about not working almost full time vs now only a couple of days a month. I love working for Kelly and love all the clients. Edward Jones is a wonderful place to work. The new full time girl is so sweet and such a fast learner.
At the same time, it is nice to be home and get things done here too. I got taxes dropped off. Hubby got the pins out of toes and is out of the boot. I have been to Costco, the grocery store, and of course Suburban Plants for eucalyptus plants.
Plants have been uncovered for a couple of days but today some get the plastic put back over them again in my makeshift greenhouse and the tall ones go back into the garage. We will have one or two nights just below freezing even though we are in the mid 70's today and will be back to the 60's a few days next week.
So since it is almost noon, I guess I had better get busy around here. I do have to change my nails soon and get rid of hearts as our Primary early voting starts on Monday and we will vote sometime next week. So Red, white and blue of some kind will be my next theme.
Just adore seeing cardinals in winter. I get a pair that visit the nearby pines where I hang a suet block for the birds. Their presence makes me think of my mom and grandmother. 🐦
Doesn't take me long to forget what day it is now. I have such mixed emotions as I miss work but I am getting lots of odd jobs done at home.
And of course, that means the coffee pot is empty. At work it would be noon or after before I finished my second cup. Tomorrow, I am taking tax stuff to CPA (new one since my girl retired- boo hoo). Thursday, Hubby gets pins out of toes and we get to run a few errands.
We started this day colder than normal and will be higher than normal before the day is done. It is so hard to uncover my makeshift greenhouse and worry about being 28° as the crack of dawn appears. But 65° to 74° is just too tempting so I am heading outside. Time to uncover plants and clean Hummingbird feeders.
I'm not really a "sports" person, but I have been enjoying the Olympics--always been a fan. Luckily, I am able to access USA and Canadian coverages; I love hearing a variety of athletes' stories. Have a great week! 🧶
Do you know how important sunshine is? I mean really know? You can see the difference in the picture. Our temperatures were not warm but just look at what the magic of the sun does! The side of the tree that got sunshine melted the ice and the branches lifted back up. Now higher temperatures should melt the other side.
From solid ice to ice only at the very tip top. Do you take vitamins? I hope you know how important D3 K2 is for you, especially in the winter. D3 is sunshine! There is even an app that you can use to make sure you get enough sunshine, D3, daily.
Ice is heavy! The limbs were touching the ground and after a day of sunshine, the limbs are not broken. Now, that doesn't mean that we didn't lose some limbs. We did.
There are about a half dozen or more like this one. So, even though only one of you offered to come help (and you know who you are), I am giving you another opportunity for some free exercise. My friend in Dallas said she was planning a trip in the near future and it was on the date that we will be tree trimming... whenever that will be.
Believe me I do understand that it is cold outside right now. Don't worry, we will wait until the temperatures are a little bit higher (in Texas that is a very short wait).
Because this Texas girl does NOT like to put on layers. I have yet to use the gloves I got out 2 days ago. And I was outside a lot yesterday chopping at the ice and scraping it off of the sidewalk areas.
But when it comes to trimming trees and cutting the branches up into smaller pieces, it takes teamwork. I am the most BLESSED girl around with my Hubby and soon enough (about another 3 weeks or more) he will be out of that "boot", I hope.
So after we are done, you are invited to come on over for the Spring party. Besides, by then we will need help with the yard and all my plants. Just saying...
The Bald Cypress tree in our front yard is completely iced over. We did not get any snow, just sleet and ice.
This is the beautiful Vitex tree in the backyard. It is also called a Chaste Tree and has beautiful purple flowers like a lavender plant.
Yes we have lost some limbs already and are supposed to have high winds tomorrow which means we will probably lose more.
Boo hoo! My beautiful backyard is going to need some work very soon. Feel free to let me know when you might be in the Dallas / Fort Worth area and would like to help.
Besides, you might get to have some fun like Michelle and Nicole with my 12 year old son, who will never grow up, that is behind the wheel of his car! I even got to see them (on FaceTime) spin out!
Wonderland got about a foot of snow thus far; it's still lightly snowing. The rabbits have been out--it's a bit hard to see but their tracks show they were hopping under the pines and around the left tree's branches. It's fine with me if this is our last snowfall; there may be six more weeks of winter, but if they're mild, that's just great. Hope you're comfy and cozy.
