As you know I'm not really in to Twittering or Facebook, not certain if I'm completely honest that I understand either. So many Company say they are on both, for their details/products, but I always think what say you don't have a Computer or know how to use/like either of these Social Networks. I sound like a right dinosaur! I'll let you in to a secret, it's only a short while ago I learnt how to open messasges on my mobile, and how to text.

So you may be surpise to learn that lately I have looked at Facebook, my niece's page and the Dawn French, facebook, she is so funny, authoress, actoress and I found some lovely poems, articles, and exchanges of views.

Although I have peek in to just two facebooks pages, I cannot see me being completely converted!

One of the higlights of 2012, was my god-daughter 21st celebration, with a big family, friends meal at the Italian Restaurant her and her sister works part-time at, followed by a disco, enjoyed by all.

The highlight of 2013 was in June my niece's younger daughter was 18, as part of her Birthday present from myself, I arranged a 18th Birthday Party, for close family and friends to celebrate her 18th. Which if I may say it myself, was a great sucess!. I just cannot believe how the years have flown by and they are both all grown up.

I still continuing with Invigilatoring at my Local School during Exam time. Still finding this rewarding and enjoyable with the young students.

Easter time last year I went on a Break to the Isle of Wight, very quaint, it's a small Island off the coast of the UK, it's still very much a part of the UK, in all sense of purpose, but it felt so different, because of the old fashion Villages.
Enjoying another short break, last year to Europe, City of Bruges. What a gem this turned out to be, The city is so full of old charm, character, with many wonderful and beautiful buildings.
(visit the website "Tripadvisor")

This year I have taken Trips to various places nearer to home and enjoyed seeing more of my own Country side.

Because of the busy School's Exams which did seem longer this year with extra Tests and Basic Reading/Maths Assessments - My attendance at my regular Art classes was few and far between, but looking forward to Septemeber when they start back again. I very much enjoy, not solely for the Art, but the lovely mix of people. It the type of class, if you go feeling down, you certainly come away, feeling happy, after, sharing tales, catch on events you realize there is someone "worst off then you".
One of the wonderful human story of last year from one of the Art ladies was, that her daughter needed a kidney to have a better life and her mum, gave one of hers. Only her best friend who comes with her to Art,knew and when asked where Margret was, she told us she was having an operation to give her daughter "one of her kidneys". Such a wonderful act and precious gift of love. They are both doing well when last asked.

My old challenges and decisions about downsizing still yet to be made, along with keeping up with exercising more, finishing started projects.

The Spring/Summer this year has brought thankfully better weather, with weeks of sun and dry weather. So pleased to say the garden looks alot better this year, (but my garden helper has become so busy it has been hard work on my own).

Once again I have appreciated all the lovely greetings from my NOTH friends over the months. So Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts, and I apologise again for not being very good at keeping in touch, you put me to shame.

Smile!
Once again I send Thanks to my NOTH Friends
*You are all so willing to help.
So I say........
"Thank you for the Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays, Everyday, the whole year through;
Thank you for the fun days, All the number
one days. Battles to be won days,too;
I just want to say it,THANK YOU you for
each day with...you." On NOTH...
(verse from song "Thank you" sang by
Peter Joback)

Smile!

My name Rosalene is a bit long for folks so I am normally known as Roz or Rosie.

I live in a Market Town called Caerphilly, not far from the City of Cardiff. Where the Welsh Assembly (talking shop for local politicians), Millennium Centre,(home of the National Opera Company and Theatre, concerts) are situated.

**Cardiff is also famous for the Millennium Stadium, Home to the Welsh Rugby Team, other main sports in Wales are Football, Cricket, Ice Hockey, Athletics. The "Ryder Cup" was held at the Celtic Manor, Newport, UK and despite the appalling weather that year; was claimed a success which was very good for Wales and for all the people who paid and worked the previous years to make it so. The opening concert was opened by Catherine Zeta Jones and that was quite an event to see. (Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones once played an all Stars golf charity tournment. In 2011 they were both back in Cardiff for the opening of the 2nd Phase of the Children's Hospital, they have both supported the raising of funds).
September 2014 we have another Important Event taking place at the Celtic Manor Golf Club/Hotel with many heads of state coming for the World Summit Conference

Now for a little bit more about my home town of Caerphilly it has one of the largest Castle/Moat in Europe. With the surrounding Towns, Valleys and City of Cardiff being well known for it's history and music,(Singer of the World Competition is annually held in the Capital, normally in July).

Our other claim to fame are the many famous people born in Wales, Max Boyce, Shirley Bassey, Katherine Jenkins, Richard Burton, Flora Robson, Writers, Dylan Thomas, Cary Grant (Bristol), - sportsmen. There is a statue placed opposite the Castle of Caerphilly for the comedian Tommy Cooper, unveiled by Sir Anthony Hopkins, the Welsh Actor now living in America. For a period Paul Robson, the soul singer lived and worked in the Welsh Mines. Also Wales is known for the "Hay on Wye" Book Festival, many visitors from all over the world attends this annual Festival.

Smile! Sadly in 2007 I lost my husband,Cliff he was my soulmate, our marriage of 33 years was full of love, fun, laughter, interesting moments and events. We enjoyed family times with our wonderful niece and nephew, God-children our lives was and still are for me full of love and good friendships. (You'll understand when I say I still miss him, the special times, that only having a special friend, who seems to understand, giving love without you having to explain what you mean, As the years go by I think I miss him more, there so much I like to share with him).

For many years,(being a Merchant Navy Officer) we travelled together all over the world including, Europe, America, Canada, Africa, Gulf and many other contries. We were very lucky to enjoy all these lovely places together, making our beautiful memories.

Smile! Together we designed a lovely garden with pond (see my gallery and background) and home together not once but twice, from my conservatory (even if the weather is bad) I can enjoy all the various colours of the changing seasons.

My career was admistration, both in the private and public sectors. Once working in a Drama & Music College Library that was great fun and very interesting. In April 2008, the Healthcare Company I worked for reorganised and I was made redundant.

I am continuing to work as a part-time Exam Inviglator for a local School, this is proving enjoyable, working and observing young people, keeps you young and they are so funny in some of their ways, (I cannot remember being so funny, and bright, hope I was!).

Over the years my Art Group have taken part in our town's annual "Flower Festival" held in July. All the Churches, shops in the Town and Casrle, take part with windows displays and floral displays. Each year the displays have a set theme, the theme this year 2014 was "Remember" (Memories). But because of essential work at the Church where are our Art Group meet - DRY Rot - we didn't take part, The dispalys in other regular venues were still beautiful.

2014 in the UK see many events for the 100 years of World War 2 - War to end all WAR, but we still have war - will we never learn - PEACE IS beautiful.

When I think back to happier event in 2012/2013 when the Olympic Torch on it's journey around the UK, this passed through our Town of Caerphilly. Gave us a chance to gather in our thousands to see this event. It was great seeing the joy of families together enjoying the event a welcome relief from the sometime depressing news around us.

2013 - Last year's events for our Queen Jubilee and the Torch. The Birth of Prince George, the Queen's great Grandson, People seemed more eager to be a part of these celebrations, perhaps because we want to forget all the horrors, problems and sadness thats in the daily news.

They reminds us how much beauty there is still around and that people do care about each other, enjoying being together as a family, and coming together to celebrate some happy news with good will and humour.

Another regular event held annually in July, is the "Caerphilly BIG Cheese" Festival. Coming up in a fortnight.
This always starts with an Opening Ceremony of a race of competitors rolling large cheses through the town, ending at the Castle. At both of these events the town enjoys many local and international visitors, we are praying for the good weather to continue.

As I get older I enjoy and appreciate more, my good friends, family time, appreciating and enjoying hearing their achievements. While valuing my own peace and quiet times to recharge my batteries, to have a good read, watch a film, beautiful music, occasionally having good food and conversation, in nice surroundings.
Good manners, courtesy, consideration for each other. Good service, pride in ones workmanship. Tolerance of others views.
I like and respect our Queen.

Bad language, bad manners. Trade people who promise to come and don't turn up. Poor service.
Smile! People who don't use their votes - then complain about their councils, government. Mobile phones going off during a meal or at the Check outs.

Smile!" Gardening, Watercolours, I attend a regular Art class, enjoy discovering the different media of art and have made new friends. Needlework, reading, music, history, computer, yoga - Letter writing. Attending a Readers book Group in my local Library.
