Wishing you an uplifting Thanksgiving.. I know you'll have something scrumptiously good.. We don't cook anymore for special occasions.. Going to eat out at the Cracker Barrel.. Let them deal with the mess :) They always serve a nice Thanksgiving meal complete with sweet potato casserole with pecans baked into it.. Did you ever make sweet potato casserole? They open at 11 am and are open until 8 pm.. I don't like to eat early, so we'll probably show up around 5:00, just in time for supper.. I'm interested to know about your Thanksgiving Day.. Hope to chat sometime..
I adore buying books or checking them out from a library. It's all about having the actual volume in my hands, especially banned books. I cherish my freedom to read. 📙
Here's Nyx, my Halloween cat! I have never fed a feral cat before, but when this gal showed up 2 weeks ago, she came up to the hubby when he was grilling outside. So I have been giving her a noon meal each day. Just something about her with those chartreuse eyes-making life a little less harsh for her. 👽
I have a bit of a thing for these vintage pumpkin faces. There are 3 versions of it in my living rm. The cat pedestal I got at an estate sale yrs ago. Enjoy this last week of October! 🐈⬛
The last October weekend is here. Enjoy! The hubby & I took a jaunt to our nearby Elizabeth Park & took some pics. The paths; the bridge that connects the island to the mainland; ducks headed toward an inland bridge; a kingfisher; a squirrel getting a drink near the base of the inland bridge. 🍂
Hello Paula, thank you for your kind word about my page. The song I have is new to me. It's from the Hunger Games prequel movie that I haven't seen yet. Yes, the owls are so much fun. We have one nearby and I was delighted to hear him (her?) hoo hooing after dark recently. It thrills me to my toes. lol. There is also a resident possum nearby that I've been feeding (my son was appalled that I do this) and he is getting quite bold. He used to sneak around but now I see him on my deck at night like he's waiting on supper. Of course he is! lol. Interesting note...he seems to prefer the same stuff we humans do...carbs!! haha. At any rate hubby has given up on scolding me for feeding him and accepted it.
Have you noticed your hens lay less in the Summer? My brother lost 4 of his at once from a pack of feral dogs. He is down to 2 now. :(
Glad to hear Dennis had no clogged blood vessels when they checked. It will just take some time, as you said. Yes, my brother is on meds and also got the clear to resume normal activity so he can string the bows again. He's coming up on a year now since his ablation.
Yes we got another chance at the Northern lights last week and we actually got them way down here in FL too though they weren't that bright like other states. My phone has a night mode on it and when I took pics that night of the lights I could see them better on the pic than with the naked eye. I also read we can expect to see them again before long due to increased solar activity (storms)
Glad you got your eyes checked and the 2 pairs of glasses are working for you. I was the same for years....cannot tolerate bifocals. I had cataract surgery in 2022 and they put standard corrective lenses in both eyes. I no longer need glassses for distance, just use readers from the Dollar tree for reading small print. It's been wonderful. My area missed the worst of hurricane Helen and Milton, thankfully. They were both nasty storms and My heart goes out to those affected.
Oh goodness, your Mom got those egg rolls good and done, huh? lol. Glad she is doing well and you are close enough to visit frequently.
Chilly here this am but 39 degrees felt good to me. Have a good Thursday!
Good morning, Paula! Love your pretty page! So FALL-ish. When I got up it was 29º, and I was singin' a tune:) Am enjoying it now, as mid 80s return next week. Rats! I'm happy for you, getting Mom moved and settled in before your cold winter, and am sure you feel the same. I'm also pleased she is so at ease w/the change. Your Den sounds so much like my Glenn... to him, getting out in his bass boat was vital to his sanity. Our river water is no longer good for eating what he caught, so 'catch & release' is the norm. lol Because of his increasing unsteadiness, he had to sell his boat and I was dreading him having no sanity invoker, but so far, so good. Glad you got new glasses. I think the way you're using them is quite handy! I've worn glasses since the 2nd grade, until having bilateral corneal transplants, and being relieved of glasses most of the time. Sometimes I still resort to them for closeup reading of tiny print. I still raise my hands to remove them from the top of my head tho... where they resided much of the time:) Glenn is doing well. He's had 3 reconstruction surgeries, has one more to go, and will start radiation treatment soon. He was found to have cancer between his nose and cheek, (a Man, the Sun, and years in a Boat) and had progressed deeply before being found. They think they got it all, but left a deep hole in his face that already looks so much better. Thx fo asking, Paula. It's been a complicated 2024, and will gladly bid it farewell. I love the kittens' names... Calvin and Hobbes!! Give them a "scritch" for me, and Thank You for feeding the deer. What beatiful creatures. We see them in the woods close to our boundaries, and occasionally they come into our side and back areas to eat the Privet hedges. Most always a doe w/two youngins. We still need rain... very dry. We got none w/Helene, the closest to us. I hope you get what you need, then send any leftovers southeast:) I pity so those hit in the Carolinas, Tennessee. The Appalachians will be bruised and battered for years. Take care of you, dear friend. I always enjoy your notes!! ♥ ♥ Love & *hugs*, di and Dobbie:)
Some Wonderland beauty! Mackinac Island in Michigan (recent pics) does not allow cars. There is a police car, an ambulance & 4 fire trucks. Unless a person is disabled, no e-bikes. Horses are used for transport, otherwise people get around on bikes.🍁
