I've known Mellie for 30 some years. She is one of my best friends and we love to SHOP. Our thing is to shop the malls & then go have a nice lunch together. Our husbands used to work together years ago. We just love to talk about our lives & families. She's a wonderful friend.

Hello to all, I am having a very busy summer and doing lots of babysitting so haven't been online here too much. When things quiet down I will get on more often.

Husband and I celebrated our 42nd anniversary in July of 2012.

I'm fairly quiet and easy to get along with. I married my high school sweetheart 42 years ago. We lived in Germany for a couple years as he was in the army. We have 1 girl & 3 boys. Also 11 grandchildren, age 17 down to 1 month. One grandson died at birth.

Hubby & I owned & operated a mom & pop convenience store for 19 years before closing in '97. Hubby had another job and I did the running of the store. It was an old country store & did fairly well most of the time. Hubby retired 10 yrs ago & I got a part time job because I was bored. Before the store I worked for an insurance company. I have been the secretary for my Sunday School for the past 15 years.

I was raised in a rural setting on a dairy farm. I still live in a rural area to this day. My wonderful parents adopted me as a baby. Now they are both gone and I miss them a lot. My mom told me I had a half sister out there somewhere but we had no luck finding her since my state has sealed records. Maybe some day I will find her. I have 2 brothers older than me.

Animals, especially horses. My family & friends, reading, crocheting, traveling, photography & gardening.  Playing with my grandchildren & shopping.

Happy April Birthday by Joyful226/Connie

Stopping by to wish you a Very Happy Birthday.
Here is your song the lady is playing for you. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday God bless you, Happy Birthday to you.
This is made special for you by me, for the year 2015. It has many Holiday's that are happening this month this year. Some are very subject to Change from year to year.  But some are always the same and one that is always the same is your Birthday. Something else that stays the same is your birthstone and Birth Flower although you do have two birth flowers last year I used the sweet pea this year the other one is used the Daisy.
Your Birthday Poem is called the Diamond.
"To thee who from April dates the years Diamonds shall wear, lest tears
For vain repentance flow"
Diamonds are thought to be one of the hardest substance in the world, they appear to date back billions of years ago. It holds significance for those born in April. It is thought to provide the wearer with better relationships and increase inner strength. Wearing diamonds is purported to bring other benefits such as balance, clarity, and abundance. It is also symbolic of eternal love. Adopted from the Greek word "adamas" meaning "invincible.
Healing Powers of Diamonds: During the Middle ages, diamonds were thought to hold healing powers and to cure ailments stemming from the pituitary gland and brain. Heating the stone and taking it to bed, it was thought to draw out the harmful toxins that were crippling the body. It was believed that diamonds could also have an effect on an individuals' balance and clarity and could boost ones energy when combined with the other crystals like the amethyst.
BIRTHDAY FLOWER: Daises are close cousins to sunflowers. The three most popular varieties are the Shasta, African and Gerbera Daisies. Shasta's have snowy white petals and bright yellow center and make great cut flowers. In this creation I used the Shasta Daisy.
This April birth flower has the flower meaning of implicitly, modesty, innocence, stability, sympathy and cheerfulness. An alternate birth flower for April is the sweet pea. Summer (when thundershowers occur very often) is the peak blooming season for daisy flower, therefore daisy flower is also known as ‘thunder flower’ in some regions. The famous “she loves me, she loves me not” method where people pluck out the petals to tell love’s fortune was first used with the daisy. The leaves of daisy are consumable and are often used in salads and the flower itself used in making honey and herbal tea.  The common daisy has astringent properties which used in traditional medicines. Certain types of daisies were also known to have medicinal properties that could give relief from indigestion, cough and even heal wounds. It is rich in vitamin C and other minerals. ECHINACEA is of the Daisy family and has many healing qualities.
More on this greeting about the Holiday’s for April 2015.
April 1st
Traditionally, April Fool's Day is an opportunity for playing jokes or tricks on one another the stranger and the more absurd the better. The challenge is to carry out a trick that is believable, if only for a little while. Tricks are most successful if played earlier in the day before a person is wise to what is going on. Younger children are also more gullible. Any tricks or jokes must be harmless and in good taste for the unsuspecting "victim".
Origin of April Fool's Day is the biggest fool of all. No one knows for sure when it started or why, many ideas about it have gone round but none can be proved what we do know is that is older than 1703 because that year is when a person asked the question for the first time and the fact is no one knew for sure then either. But we know it is old.
Good Friday April 3
Seen in the upper right hand corner of this greeting: Is  on Good Friday, Jesus Christ died on the cross. He died for us.  He then arose from the dead on Easter Sunday morning to show us that there is life after death in heaven. Good Friday, also called “Dark Friday”, is a day of solemn prayer and the final day of fasting for the long Lenten season.
Christ was nailed to the cross at noon. His death came at three o’clock in the afternoon. During this time, Christians should spend in prayer and silence.
Easter April 5th this year
Seen in the upper left hand corner: The real meaning of  Easter, is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To Christians, it is the most special day of the year. Yes, the birth of Christ is quite important. But, His resurrection offers the hope of everlasting life to everyone! The Lenten season leading up to Easter Sunday is a time of fasting, sacrifice and prayer. It is the Christian way of replicating in a small way what Christ sacrificed for us, both in His fasting and His final death on the cross.
For Children there are Easter egg hunts and chocolate bunnies. Usually the night leading to Easter Sunday morning. The Easter bunny brings lots of chocolates and other candies. However the Easter bunny and eggs are not as secular as one might think. But that is to long for this greeting. Upon awakening early on Easter morn, there are also Sunrise services where often reenactments of the Easter story from Good Friday though Easter are reenacted. Often getting up quite early in the morning to go to this events.   Then the family will dress in their finest new spring clothes, and go off to church to celebrate Christ's resurrection. From there, the holiday tradition varies. From Easter egg hunts to big family dinners often with Ham or Lamb being served. Ham because Christ made all food clean Lamb because He is also known as the Lamb of God.
Patriot's Day
Date When Celebrated: Third Monday in April
Shown in the lower Left hand corner:  Some people know little or nothing about Patriot's Day. To New Englanders, it is a big, big day. In the states in New England, it's a holiday with a day off of work. Banks, schools, post offices, and businesses have the day off. It should be a day that All Americans remember for without it out there would be no United States of America.
Patriot's Day commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. This battle began the American Revolutionary War. It also honors the "Midnight Ride of Paul Revere", that evening when Paul Revere rode through town warning the colonists that "The Red Coats are coming!"
Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.
And the midnight ride of Paul Revere
(this last was not in the real one but my dad added it and always sounded good to me it is a long poem so this ends it nicely for the short verse.. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote the poem.)
Represented by the tree middle right hand : Arbor Day When: Always the last Friday in April. National Arbor Day is the Tree Planters holiday, and has been celebrated since 1872. It began in Nebraska, a largely treeless plain back in the 1800's. It is a day to plant and dedicate a tree to help nature and the environment. Millions of trees are planted on this day. The National Arbor Day Foundation provides millions of trees for planting. It is estimated that 18 million trees are planted each year on Arbor Day. Did you know? The Latin word for "Tree" is "Arbor"...sure you did!!!
The angel with the Lambs in the middle right hand reminds us of the Angle at the tomb and Christ is the true Pascale Lamb of God. The purest of all sacrifices thus reminds us of both His death to this life and His resurrection to conquer death so we would never have to go to Hell. Wonderful,
May this little greeting make your April birthday just a little more meaningful.
I do hope you enjoyed this greeting and of course it wouldn’t be complete without the Ice Cream and Cake and a little gift too.
May your birthday be filled with joy and happiness and lots of goodies too all year through!
   Connie
