In Memory of my Dad
08/06/1929 to 09/06/2008
His Journey's Just Begun
Don't think of him
As gone away-
His journey's just begun,
Life holds so many facets-
This earth is only one...
Just think of him as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
That we could know today
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.
And think of him as living
In the hearts of those he touched...
For nothing loved is ever lost-
And he was loved so much.

In Memory of my Dad
I flew out of town the day I received the call that he may not make it through the night. I got there and was able to visit with him for awhile. He was still quite coherent but struggling. Some of the family members were going to take turns spending the night with Dad; mine was the following night.
I left dad’s house about 10:00 and he passed away the following morning at 3:30. I’d like to think that he waited long enough to see me and tell me he loved me.
I really didn't have a dad as I was growing up. My parents were divorced when I was 3 years old and he remarried shortly after that. The new wife had two kids, a boy and a girl, and then they had a boy together. The new wife didn't really like us, my sister, brother and myself, and was kinda mean. I didn't like to go over to their place; it was really uncomfortable. I only saw my dad once in awhile on birthdays or at Christmas.
The new wife passed away a couple of years ago and all of a sudden I had a dad! We would call and talk to each other often and he even came down to AZ and went golfing with me. We talked about all the times he might come to visit and the golfing we would do as my home is surrounded by a golf course. So his death was very hard to take. I really only got to see my dad as a dad for a little while. I wanted so much more time. But I am grateful for the time we had and soooooo grateful and blessed that I was able to tell him I loved him before he passed.
Thank you all for your prayers and blessings
