My Frog and Me
Posted On 04/29/2020 01:51:09 by texasjane
Another storm came through last night. No Internet. I hear hail hitting the windows. I guess I get to check the damage in the morning. The dogs are all hiding with their heads (only their heads) under the bed. The roar of thunder, a flash of lighting. The lights flicker. I think I will go check on the guests I brought in from yesterday's rain. I had a whole jar of tadpoles I found in a puddle in the backyard. I knew the puddle would not last with the dogs stomping all around so I scoope... Read More

Posted On 03/26/2020 05:10:37 by yourchoice
My mother's family were of German decent, with several major moves in their history. My new grandmother had just explained to me about Christmas. We were coming home from my aunt's house after celebrating Thanksgiving. My sister and I were newly adopted and these holidays were very new to us. I was six and my sister was 4. Grandmother explained it was the celebration of the birth of Jesus. "You mean a birthday party?" I asked. She gave me a soft smile and a hug and said, "Yes." We call his birthday Christmas" I clapped my hands and replied, "Cake and ice cream?" When she said "No... Read More

Heroes For All Generations
Posted On 02/14/2020 07:23:35 by texasjane
As a retired teacher being asked to volunteer at a day care center was a thrill. I took my entire collection of DVD’s with the complete Lone Ranger series to a day care center for the homeless. This was inspired by my time with the Special Olympics group. All children seemed to like them so I gambled these kids would too. None of these kids had ever heard of The Lone Ranger.I announced to the kids I had something special to show them. I went on to say this was about a hero I had when I was a k... Read More
