Yayyy...I'm so proud to be Canadian...My "Neighbor" Province has been thru such a devastating flood, and the Stampede is going ahead!! Super!! It's such a wonderful place to be and such hard working, warm people.
I too am a proud Canadian ... and a native Albertan, who has lived in and near Calgary for nearly 60 years. It has been an amazing two weeks ... lots of bad stuff happened, and a heap of good stuff coming to light.
I watched the Parade on TV this morning ... compliments of CBC TV (no local stations this year) and many of the organizers and volunteers were invited to be in the parade so that Calgarians and visitors could say 'Thank You' for all their hard work. They were encouraged to take the day 'off' and have some fun ... but I just heard that a crowd of volunteers showed up in High River after lunch ... and are back to work!
Even though we have not been directly affected ... I join the crowds to say 'Thank You' for rolling up your sleeves, and to the businesses who have donated unbelievable amounts of "start-up" inventory to those who suddenly have nothing.
Yahoo, Calgary! You are the greatest!
