Welcome to the Calgary Stampede - 2014

Friday was the kickoff of the annual Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. It starts with a huge parade in the downtown core, and turns the city into a crowd of pseudo-cowboys who learn very quickly the YAHOO greeting, and trade their fashion clothes for blue jeans and cowboy hats. Here`s a short video to watch of the parade.

As for us, we watch the events on TV ... it`s not as crowded as it is downtown!

We did have Stetsons some years ago, but now we just look silly, wearing them when we are sitting in our living room and watching the events on TV. If we were in the city, we certainly would be in the minority without our Stetsons!

This is an event that I have always wanted to visit however originating from the east coast (Halifax), I never got the chance.  I guess I won't ever now since I live in the Netherlands.  Enjoy!
