17 Years of Not Over The Hill
As of the 27th of this month, I will have been a member here for 17 years. This is so hard for me. Yesterday, I got an email from Admin about the Closure of Not Over The Hill. And I have to admit, I got teary. I know our active members will be as heartbroken as I am, even though I understand the reasons this is happening. To be honest, I can’t even imagine life without NOTH.
The first thing I do in the morning is come to NOTH and see what’s going on. I check to see if there are any new members & either ‘welcome’ them or delete the spammers. Then I check the general Forums to see who has posted in new threads.
I check to see if I have any messages or comments. On Friday, someone told me they had a friend who wanted to join NOTH. I didn’t respond, because I didn’t know what to say. I knew I had to wait until Admin posted the actual announcement.
Normally, after checking messages, I go to my groups. If I’ve finished a book, I then go to my Book group and post a review. If I’ve seen a really good tv show or movie, I go to that group and post about it.
Recently, I’ve been distracted with family medical problems; so I haven’t done much with designing my pages. I had left the two with musical videos on. But I had planned on re-doing them soon.
That’s the one thing that I could do here, but nowhere else! As you all know, I love making graphics–many with ‘greetings’ on them. I will try to make one last Greeting to say ‘good-bye’ to all of you.
I’ve really learned so much and had so much fun working with graphics here. The only other social site like this won’t let you use anything but pre-made layouts. And I’ve never liked that site for several reasons.
I’m going to miss all of you! Even if we aren’t actually ‘friends’ here, we’ve left comments back and forth. And we’ve interacted in groups. I feel like I know so many of you.
I just want to thank all of you for being here, and for taking time out of your busy lives to take part in this lovely site.
And I want to thank Eightball and TC for giving us so many years together. I will never forget Not Over The Hill.
PS–if you want my FB info, just send me a message. I’ve already posted that in my Bulletin. The same goes for the email address I’ve been using for NOTH. I hope that many of us will still keep in touch.
