What's your favorite?

Well it's very hard to pick just one favorite holiday food but I'd have to say the Dressing...and yes we call it Dressing down here in the South, but whatever you call it, dressing or stuffing, it's so good and most of us ONLY have it at the holidays so I say enjoy! I mean...if we have to wait all year for it, right?!  A second favorite is the sweet potatoes, baked in a souffle or casserole with a crunchy pecan topping.  Also tying for second are the the yeast rolls we always have in my family.  Other traditional foods include baked Ham or Pork Roast, Collard greens or Turnip greens, seasoned with ham or bacon, green beans with red potatoes, corn casserole, broccoli casserole, jello salad of all different colors and flavors (this may be a Southern thing, not sure), Deviled eggs, cranberry sauce or cranberry salad which is a yummy fluffy dessert type thing.  And speaking of desserts...everyone's fav: pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie, pecan pie, custard pie, buttermilk pie, Lemon Chess pie, and any kind of cake you want to make but let's face it, Thanksgiving is pie's day to shine Hungry yet?

Dressing here too..but not eating bread now...yikes...it's going to be hard this holiday, but I've got to keep sticking with this keto thing. I've lost 21 lbs since July. Might see if I can find a keto friendly dressing recipe...

thank you everyone, I enjoyed reading about your traditions and favorites. Mona, we do the same with the "potluck"  each year.  It's nice to have other people's cooking, I can say that for sure.  I agree about the pumpking pie with whipped cream...YUM!!!   Oh and I DO like Brussel Sprouts. I confess I'm a recent convert to them as I finally learned how to cook them. I think of them as baby cabbages. haha.  I'm not a big lover of fruit cake but Mama made them every year and let them "age" after she poured wine over the top.  As a kid we must have loved them because she had to hide it from us during this process.

We missed Thanksgiving dinner this year, but we usually enjoy a 'potluck' dinner, with contributions from four families. It usually includes some of my favorites ... roasted turkey with stuffing, scalloped or mashed potatoes with lots of gravy, brussel sprouts (even though many don't enjoy them), and jellied salad. Pumpkin pie with whipped cream is a MUST, and enough for leftovers the following day!!!

Now I'm looking forward to some Christmas fruit cake ... I hope Costco gets some a few weeks before Christmas. I don't make it anymore.

You nailed it! Dressing or stuffing, whichever name you choose is the best, right? I love yams too and that's what I will be making to go along with turkey dinner on Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie it is!
